Another blog relaunch? This time for real?

For quite some time now I’ve been contemplating a blog/homepage relaunch.

I’m working things out and I sure hope this time I will manage to get something which with I’m satisfied enough to relaunch.

I like WordPress but what I hate about it is that:

I have to actively go to the blog to post (I’ll give Press This another shot)
The process to attach an image (e.g. from a screenshot) has so many steps that it’s just tedious

In the past I’ve tried using desktop blog editors, but that didn’t really go anywhere either.

I’ll look around, see if I can figure something out.

Update on the wiki project

For the last week I’ve actually been evaluating/using Wikispaces. It’s a pretty decent wiki overall, though now that I’ve added quite a bit of content I am already starting to run into problems organizing it efficiently. Or maybe it’s just that my skills in finding things are lacking.

I’ve actually been documenting my evaluation in Dutch on that wiki. If you’re interested you can find it here.

Yahoo Pipes

Yahoo Pipes is an interesting project/application, but I’m having a hard time finding interesting / inspirational pipes. The first popular pipe I tried (The Bigger Picture) I couldn’t figure out what it was supposed to be doing and the second one (Top 10 Movies Trailers) is broken because the title attribute in the feed is polluted.

Google launches Google Reader redesign, forgets about the ‘Like’ hotkey

Today Google rolled out the new design for Google Reader. Apart from the design, the first thing I noticed was that the keyboard hotkey to like an item has been removed (‘L’). In fact, the entire Google Reader sharing functionality has been dropped in favor of some rudimentary Google+ integration (read what Alex from the Google Operating System blog had to say about it). I didn’t make much use of the sharing functionality but I did use the like functionality so I’ll have to whip up a userscript to replace the hotkey later.

My ordeals in trying out the Settlers 7 demo

When I renewed my internet subscription I received a € 30,- gift certificate to spend at the online retailer BOL.com. I’m considering using it to (among other things) buy Settlers 7 (€ 9,99) but after downloading the demo (which comes in at a whopping 2,9GB) from GamersHell.com (first Google result), installing it, patching it twice I end up with a page in my browser that says:

“This demo has officially ended. If you would like to continue playing, please purchase the full version in the UbiShop or at a retailer near you.”

I doubt there’s anybody out there reading this but just in case.

You may have noticed that the blog had removed for some time (I replaced it with a blank page that said “Nothing to see here, move along”). I removed the blog because I lost my motivation to blog (/didn’t see the purpose anymore). I’ve since thought things through some and decided to bring the blog back.

However, expect some drastic changes in the coming months with regards to content!
